Spring Lawn Prep

Updated: Mar 26, 2019

Spring is approaching and the winter weather from prior months can leave your grass, shrubs and trees damaged and weak from enduring harsh weather conditions of ice and snow. If you want your plants, shrubs and trees to grow back fuller in the spring, follow these simple tips.

1. Remove debris

The first thing you should do when preparing your lawn for the spring months is to clean up the leaves and other debris that have gathered over the winter.

2. Apply Fertilizer and Weed Killer

Early in spring, use a combination of fertilizer, weed killers and pesticides to prevent unwanted problems (such as crabgrass). Re-application within six to eight weeks of the first application is recommended.

3. Mow early and often

Mow every five days for the first six weeks of spring to better your chances of growing a thicker and more full grass to cover your lawn.

4. Skip Steps 1-3… Call Fight the Bite to get the job done!

Fight the Bite’s Services

At Fight The Bite, we understand that not everyone has the time to dedicate to lawn care all the time, which is why we offer a variety of lawn services to keep your outdoor space looking spic and span to enjoy during the summer months. Whether you are too busy, frequently out of town, or unable to mow your lawn yourself, Fight The Bite is here to help.

One of the most popular services we provide is our leaf control service, which is important for your grass to receive all the nutrients it needs for proper growth. Along with leaf control, we offer great fertilization services. Fertilization is a delicate process which requires time and expertise. Our turf professionals have the knowledge and training to personally care for your lawn. Over or under-fertilizing your lawn can result in a variety of issues and problems. Each personalized plan is calculated with the right amount of fertilization with consideration to the size of your lawn, the soil quality, and the weather.

Fight the Bite also offers services for Weed Control! Effectively controlling the overgrowth of weeds can be frustrating. With most over-the-counter or store bought weed control products, weeds seem to resurface even after application. Our turf pros can offer you weed control that is proactive and cost-effective.
